ETHAN LIPTON & HIS ORCHESTRA RETURN TO NORTH BENNINGTON
FOR BASEMENT MUSIC SERIES SEASON FINALE
Ethan Lipton & His Orchestra Return to North Bennington
for Basement Music Series Season Finale

NORTH BENNINGTON, Vt. — With melancholy wit and a hilariously cockeyed worldview, Ethan Lipton & His Orchestra wrap up Vermont Arts Exchange's 2010 Basement Music Series season on Saturday, May 8, at 8 p.m.

Lipton's return to the Sage Street Mill is a special preview of his sophomore studio album "Honker," which releases in June. Featuring guest vocals from Matt Berninger of The National, "Honker" was funded entirely by fans around the world through the funding platform Kickstarter, and continues Lipton's unique gift of conveying thoughts and emotions most don't want to admit.

"Hilarious, twisted, sophisticated, schleppy and sad all at once... songs that take the mundane of life and twist it," praises National Public Radio's Weekend Edition. "Tender, wise and occasionally hostile, Ethan's like the tipsy uncle at the family reunion who spills the shameful family secrets," Berninger told the New York Times Fall Preview. "It's uncomfortable but hilarious, and everyone feels better once the truth is out."

Tickets for this Basement Music Series concert are $18 in advance through Brown Paper Tickets, the first and only fair-trade ticketing company, at www.brownpapertickets.com or www.vtartxchange.org, or by calling (toll free) 800-838-3006 — price includes service fee. Tickets are $22 at the door on the night of show on a first-come, first-served basis. Libations, provided by Thyme Tables Catering will be available through a cash bar.

Check out the Walloomsac Farmers Market

In the warmer months the Walloomsac Farmers Market moves outdoors to the Walloomsac River walk at the Bennington Station, on the corner of Depot and River Streets, in downtown Bennington, Vermont.

Set aside Saturday mornings and Tuesday afternoons to gather with friends and neighbors and shop for tantalizingly fresh food. Stroll along the river walk, chat with the vendors about their wares, take in the colors and aromas of just-picked vegetables, flowers and freshly baked bread, listen to local musicians, watch local chefs prepare their favorite dishes using seasonal produce, or see artisans demonstrate their craft.

The Walloomsac Farmers Market hours are every Saturday May 8 – October 30, 10am – 1pm, and every Tuesday May 11 – October 26, 3:30 – 5:30pm
